The next BAPA meeting is on Wednesday, Sept 1st, at the Marie Callender's In Serramonte Mall. (See "Meetings " for directions.) Just off 280 and near the Dump.
The social half hour starts at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. Please come to eat and socialize at 6:30. We'll presumably be talking about recent flying and possible new sites. Our guest speaker will be Rick Cavallaro talking about learning to kitesurf and his really cool downwind cart project. Both are super interesting topics! Please come... Thanks, Kevin

My guess is that there are a lot of closet hike and flyers out there.
Like me, you like breaking a sweat (not just when you're packing your glider) and you like the mountains + being outdoors in general.
A few things I'd like to propose are below. I want to hear your thoughts on these -- you can join the google group (email distribution list) to keep the conversation going: http://groups.google.com/group/bayareahikeandhuck
Also, we'll be able to discuss this topic at the next BAPA meeting on March 3 at 7pm in Milpitas. I'll go over equipment and places and I'd like to hear from everyone what they've done, would like to do, what they're up for. So show up and let's figure out what we can do.
1) Weekly hike and fly at local Bay Area sites I propose Mission on Tuesdays at 4:30pm starting March 16 which is after daylight savings. I'm open to other sites, too so just propose something.
2) Vol-biv trips in the Sierras and Northern California coastal ranges over weekends I've looked at a number of different routes and possibilities. It's always better to do these things in groups so I'd like to see who wants to join me.
3) Informal vol-biv competition this summer Let's pick a 3-day weekend, pick a route we've checked out, get a few people for ground support, pack some beer, and start walking/flying.

We thought we'd send you a summary of the events we have planned for this year. We've put a fair amount of effort in constructing a more event filled calendar for 2010, please come out and help make all of these events successful. Full details on these events will also be updated on the BAPA Events Calendar. A few weeks prior to each event one of us will send out an email to all BAPA Members with more specifics, sign-up instructions etc... Sincerely, Mike, Katrina and Kevin - BAPA activities geeks |

Newsflash
You can check your last renewed date by logging in, click "My Member Info" in the User Menu and then mouse over the grey "Edit" rectangle above your name and click "Edit Your Membership Details". Click the "Admin Details" tab to see the information logged for your last payment. Note that only you and the Officers can see this information. Click the "Cancel" button at the bottom of the screen if you don't make changes.
While you're editing your information, you should check to see that everything is correct and up-to-date! |
I've seen a problem where you log in using Internet Explorer, but nothing seems to happen. It's likely related to cookies (how the browser stores you login info). If you experience this problem, try Tools > Internet Options > Delete cookies (which will unfortunately clear ALL your cookies). Or, try using Netscape or Firefox (which allows you to clear only specific cookies if you want). |
