The good news is that we have received acceptable bids for organising some of these important events.
Category 2 competitions in the past year
In 2008 we have so far sanctioned more than 250 competitions in the FAI member countries.
The 2009 CIVL Plenary meeting
We are preparing for the 2009 Plenary meeting (already). The meeting will be held in Hall in Tirol in Austria in February.
The World Air Games 2009
The test events for all the different air sports disciplines have taken place and the organisers and FAI are now working on the organisation of the “real” WAG in 2009.
The FAI Sporting License database
The success of the sporting license database will depend on the NACs of the FAI member countries which will have to update the database with the details of the competition pilots.
The WXC
After more than a year of work to develop the new World XC Online contest the first trial version started on 1 October and will run through to 30 September 2009.

CIVL is delighted to announce the launch of the first trial season of the World XC Online contest (WXC) starting on 1 October 2008 and running through to 30 September 2009. All Online contest organisers are welcome to join the WXC network. Already several contests have signed up, including DHV, Paraglidingforum and XCC-Poland. Having more than achieved its aim to widely promote our sports during the FAI centenary, this fascinating book is now available at a special price in the run up to the World Air Games in 2009.

CIVL is delighted to announce that two further Category 1 competitions have been awarded for 2010. The 11th FAI European Paragliding Championship will be organised in Abtenau in Austria, from 23rd May to 5th June 2010. The 2nd FAI HG & PG Aerobatics World Championships will be organised in Omegna in Italy, from 6th to 15th August 2010.

Pilot selection for the test events of the World Air Games, the most prestigious and extensive aerial contest in the world, is now underway. If you believe you are a contender and you meet the qualification criteria, then contact us straight away – especially if you have experience of Hang Gliding Speed Gliding and Hang Gliding Aerobatics. CIVL is responsible for selecting and inviting the pilots in four of the 26 individual discipline competitions: Hang gliding Aerobatics, Hang gliding Speed Gliding; Paragliding Aerobatics (solo & synchro) and Paragliding Accuracy. These four test events will take place from18 to 20th August, 2008, at Avigliana, Italy.
