SFBAPG email List Print  | E-mail
There is a Bay Area Paragliding Mail List for general PG discussions, kindly provided by Mahboud Zabetian of Wildpackets. The sfbapg list is not a BAPA club list. Many members read the sfbapg list but there are also many subscribers who are not BAPA members. To post a message to all BAPA members please send your announcement to Ann Sasaki ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and request that the message be sent to all BAPA members.

HAM Crams and other Classes Print  | E-mail

We received a reminder from the FCC regarding the importance of obtaining a HAM license and using our radios accordingly. They even reminded us of the very large fines that we are subject to for unauthorized use of the HAM band! BAPA officers want to be sure you know about this and encourage everyone who hasnít already obtained a license to do so as soon as possible. Itís relatively easy and there are a number of resources available.

Mount Diablo Site Introduction Print  | E-mail

Welcome to Mount Diablo, the Bay Area's premier flying site.  This site introduction document will cover: assessing flying conditions, launches, LZ's, a typical flight, soaring opportunities, common weather patterns, lee-side winds, land-outs, radio use, flying with hang gliders, X-C, restricted airspace/aircraft traffic, and surface hazards.  It is mostly site-specific, so it doesn't discuss standard thermal site principles, though these certainly apply here as much as at any other thermal site.  It is not a replacement for an in-person site intro, but a supplement.  It will not cover the PG flying regulations, which are contained in a separate document and which all fliers should abide by.
