This website is made possible by BAPA, since there was a registration fee to be paid. Member dues also pay for the RidgeDancer, the BAPA monthly newsletter that provides information of interest to local pilots, including site descriptions, trip reports, and flying events.

Most importantly, BAPA dues pay for site insurance for three local sites: the Stables, a coastal site, and two mountain sites, Mt. Tam, in Marin County, and Mt. Diablo, in Contra Costa County. BAPA also funds various site improvements at all local sites.

BAPA as an organization is dedicated to keeping local pilots informed and safe, but of course this information is freely available to ensure broad distribution. Joining BAPA helps defray the costs of maintaining local sites and publishing the newsletter; however, most importantly, joining BAPA supports the efforts of the organization in educating and supporting paragliding pilots in the Bay Area.

The Bay Area Paragliding Association (BAPA) is an organization of paragliding pilots and enthusiasts. The charter of the club is to promote and encourage the sport of paragliding. BAPA is a registered chapter of the United States Hang and ParaGliding Association (PC006). We currently have over 140 active members.

BAPA is governed by Bylaws, last modified in November 2002 and available as an Adobe Acrobat (PDF) document.
