Tim S - SecretaryNothing to report. Chip S - Site Director Reminder that Mori Point is open. Be sure to contact Chip if you have ideas for new sites or if there are problems at existing sites. We discussed Tollhouse; what's the status following Paul's death? Wally A - Safety Director Wally says he's hearing about more and more incidents only through word-of-mouth; he'd rather get written reports from eye witnesses. Please report incidents you observe - he'd rather get multiple reports than none. Officers should be encouraging reports by spreading the word that they are anonymous and help other pilots who can learn lessons without having to have the incident. Let people know that they can report incidents on the www.sfbapa.org website . Rolf is a member of the USHPA accident review committee this year. Ann S + Kurt N - Activities CoChairs Please check the web site for updates as plans are firmed up. Tentative ideas and tentative dates for activities in 2008: - March 8 - Reserve throw clinic. This is your opportunity to:
o throw your or a dummy reserve in a simulator o leave your reserve with Wally for a repack after the clinic. - Peter's (or other) PLF clinic. This was a well-received clinic when it was offered last year.
- Fly-in at Woodrat?
- Fly-ins at local sites - Potato, Dunlap, others?
- December Holiday party.
- Thermal clinic?
- First Aid/CPR class?
Membership survey to help decide on other activities? Motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed to allocate up to $250 for room rental and USHPA insurance for the reserve clinic. Susan is planning to organize three BAPA cross-country practice days. These non-competitive events would focus on supporting each other to start flying XC. Possibly held in conjunction with BAPA flyins, there would be no fees and no prizes. Decision making and coordination would be shared by the group and rotated among pilots. Events would be scheduled to not to conflict with Jug's league, maybe two weeks before or after a NorCal XC League event. Likely sites would be Woodrat, Dunap, Potato. Old Business:Suggestions about the Ridge Dancer (club newsletter, published online). - We haven't published one since April, 2007!
- Let's get whatever articles we have now out on the web site.
- Until we get an editor, it seems we'll need to have the officers and other contributors more directly involved with placing content on the web site. Plan on having scheduled dates throughout the year when all Ridge Dancer content would be put up. Old articles will be archived and searchable.
Executive committee meeting to be held prior to next regular meeting to discuss the necessary modifications of the by-laws to accommodate the above changes in the Ridge Dancer. Dunlap launch work is pending approval at the Foundation for Hang Gliding and Paragliding. Jug and Tom continue to follow progress towards having a day this spring to have rented heavy equipment and volunteers renovate the launch. New Business:We need to stay on top of the required IRS paperwork. A show of hands indicated that the members present at the meeting prefered the Marie Callender's venue over Round Table, so the May and September 2008 meetings will be held there. Summit Pointe in March, July, and November. Meeting adjourned at 7:59pm. Entertainment was Rolf talking about the DHV paraglider certification process. ### |
