Happy New Year BAPA Members!  Kurt Niznik and I are putting some interesting, informative and enjoyable events on the BAPA calendar this year. Here is a brief overview of upcoming items:

On March 8, Wally Anderson will lead a Reserve Parachute Clinic in Moraga, at Juan Laos' barn.  The day-long clinic will include a detailed discussion of reserves and participants will practice throwing reserves from a simulator.  Pilots will use their own harnesses.  Participation will be limited to 15 pilots. We will send out details to BAPA members soon.

In April, June and August there will be BAPA fly-ins in conjunction with the Cross Country Co-op organized by Susan Kent.  These should be fun weekends.  You can come to free fly at the fly-in and/or fly in the Co-op, practicing short cross-country flights.  More details to come.

We will likely have a Hat Creek Solstice fly-in in late June because it all worked out well last year and Hat Creek is a very scenic and soulful experience.

On September 20, BAPA will participate in the Coastal Cleanup Day - a good way to contribute to the local community and to preserve our coastal site - the Dump, a.k.a. Mussel Rock.

Kurt and I are working on presentations for the BAPA meetings - Rolf Bienert's excellent talk on DHV testing made a great start to the year.  We also have Safety Tips, acro comps, faraway trips and other topics on tap.

Later in the year, after the flying season winds down, we'll have a First Aid class and the Holiday Party.

Two activities that we're also considering are another PLF clinic and a possible BAPA trip to Woodrat.

Please stay tuned for more details.  We hope to make 2008 a really fun year for BAPA activities and we encourage all members to participate!
