August BAPA Fly-In and XC Co-op at Potato Hill Print  | E-mail

The BAPA Potato Hill Fly-In and XC Co-op will be held on August 23rd and 24th. This fly-in was originally scheduled for Dunlap, but since we had the first two at Dunlap we will try to make this one at Potato.  If you have not been to Potato Hill before please read the site guide.

BAPA will again be providing a main course for the Saturday night dinner, so IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND PLEASE CONTACT ME so I can plan to bring enough food. I will also be asking participants to bring additional items (appetizers, side dishes, etc.) to round out the meal.

This will also be a BAPA Cross Country Co-op weekend. If you are interested in participating in the Co-op please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for details and registration information.

We will be camping at Dixie Glade campground on the side of Potato Hill. There is additional campground room at Letts Lake. The camping is primitive and somewhat remote: there is an outhouse and fire pits but no water, and the nearest store is about 40 minutes away. Please plan to bring all the food and water you will need with you.

NOTE TO NEWER PILOTS:
Potato Hill is informally regulated by BAPA and Sonoma Wings and although there are no rating requirements please be aware that it is a (usually) lee side mountain thermal site with an LZ that often has thermic, turbulent air (it's poppy!). If you have little to no mountain experience Potato can be a good place to build your skills but you should plan to fly early in the day and/or in the evening if conditions allow.

I look forward to seeing you at Potato!
