Please Take Action: State Park Closures in California Print  | E-mail

UPDATE:  The State Assembly passed a budget that would keep the parks open, but the Governor has threatened to veto.  Some parks are tied to federal funding (including Mt. Tam), which would be withheld if the parks were to close.  Further, the federal government could take over some state parks if they are closed.

---

As most of you know our governor has proposed closing most of our state parks including  Mt. Tam & Diablo as part of his budget proposal. This not only effects us but makes no economic sense as according to the Cal Parks Foundation every $ spent on the parks returns over $2 in tax revenue from surrounding communities. I called the local office & they suggested going to http://calparks.org/ & signing their petition which automatically gets sent to the governor, your local state senator & representative. Additionally one could contact those people directly for further input.
